Hi, and thanks to everyone in the forum for your help in advance.I have a sqlexpress 2005 instance installed in my machine, this is the only SQL installation i have, considering that i uninstalled sql server 2000 a while ago.Under the configuration manager i STILL see two instances tho, SQLEXPRESS and MSSQLSERVER.The SQLEXPRESS service is not running and cant be started thru configuration manager because it shows an error when i attempt.Considering this I have enabled the remote connections settings on the MSSQLSERVER instance which apparently seems to be the one mapped as the (LOCAL) one because when i stop the service on it, i cant access any of my databases thru the query analyzer anymore. So when i try to connect remotely setting the same server name as my computer one and setting the option "Windows Authentication", it shows up an error: "Access denied for [MYCOMPUTERNAME]\guest".I am testing out the remote connection thru another instance of SQLSERVER2005 using Microsoft Sql Manager Studio this on a different machine, before doing it on the application itself.I would like to use Windows Authentication and not sql authentication because the application is meant to work with sqlexpress server which wouldnt need any sql user registered to make it work.I wonder what i am doing wrong, is weird why i cant start sqlexpress, why i have two sql instances names (even after i uninstalled sql2000 previously) and why i cant access remotely to the one that is working well locally.I would appreciate any help i could get on the issue from you all. Thanks a lot.O. Perseverance worths it...:) |
