I've been using MS Query for several months to pull from our SQL server and create reports using Excel. I have one workbook with seven worksheets, each for it's own report and using it's own query. All queries use identical login credentials and access the same data source. Nothing about this process has been changed since it last worked.Recently, there was an update pushed out to our Information Management suite that brought the show down for a while. When that was repaired, I discovered that the reports in my workbook were failing. Not all of them, but four out of seven. The other three still work perfectly fine, but the other four all throw this error:Connection Failed:SQLState: '01000'SQL Server Error: 11001[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]Connection Open(Connect())Connection Failed:SQLState: '08001'SQL Server Error: 6[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]Specified Server Not FoundNow I've seen solutions to this type of error that focused on configuration changes to either the client OS or the server, but this error occurs to individual worksheets in the SAME Excel workbook. And like I said, these were all working prior to this last update, but now less than half of them work, yet all access the same server in the same way and have successfully for months.I've tried approaching this from the Excel side and got nothing but blank stares and our IT team is stumped. But these reports are critical to our unit so I'm trying to do what I can from our end. If anyone has some idea what might be causing this, some direction in where to look would be much appreciated.Lastly, I had a hard drive crash a couple of weeks before all this happened and had to have my machine reimaged, so I lost all the saved .dqy query files that I had saved. After the reinstall, all the reports were still working and did until the update. I don't see how that might be relevant but I thought I should include it just in case. |
