Below is a scenario with some questions.Small business less than 20 users.Business order entry software stores data in SQL Server 2005 Express on a rack mount server in ArizonaLocal (Arizona same building) users on PC’s accessing the data and altering it using the order entry software have no speed issues.Remote users in New Mexico do have speed issues.Network consultant has tried many things to speed up New Mexico access to data.Nothing has worked to date.Wants to try and use replication.Proposal.Set up an instance of SQL Server 2005 on a PC in New Mexico office.Copy the database to the New Mexico Instance.Synchronize the two databases.Point the two or three New Mexico Users PC’s to the New Mexico Database.Does this plan sound reasonable? What are the major pitfalls to watch out for?Thank you for your attention.Rich Olsen |
