Adrian writes "This may initially look like an MS Excel issue - but read on as the problem occurred after installing SP3a ...

I have an OLAP query created using MS Excel. When I try to refresh the query in Excel, I get the error:

"Client Safety Options do not allow pass through statements to be issued to the data source."

I believe this error has occurred since our client upgraded their MS SQL to SP3a.

BOL refers to "PivotTable Service Properties" and "Safety Options Property". Using this info I have added the following clause the "*.oqy" file:

DBPROP_MSMD_SAFETY_OPTIONS=DBPROPVAL_MSMD_SAFETY_OPTIONS_ALLOW_ALL

This has made no difference.
Interestingly, if the query is refreshed using MS Query, the error message does not appear.

Other info: I am using XP and Office XP and the problem occurs on a full MS SQL instance (at a customer's site) and a purely local MSDE implementation (on an in-house test machine).

So, any ideas on how to refresh an OLAP query from Excel?"
