Dale writes "I've been connecting to a remote SQL server for months on both a desktop and a laptop, through a cable modem connection. Both systems run Windows XP - the desktop has service pack 2, the laptop does not.
Anyway, out of the blue last week I am unable to connect to the SQL server - on either machine. Says server doesn't exist. After quite a bit of time on the phone with the host support people, they have me try connecting using a backup dial-up ISP line - and that works!

So now I have to dial-up everytime I need to manage the database, which makes it tough when I'm working in some dynamic pages on Dreamweaver MX.

Any ideas why this would happen? I've disabled all firewall protections, and both the SQL Server provider and the cable connection provider swear they have made no changes that would affect my ability to connect. I'm stumped!!!"
