Gary writes "Hello, hope you are well, I need some help if you could.

I am installing SQL Server 6.5 on Win2k server and having some problems, I have researched MS TechNet+net and found some information, disabling un-required services, login account permissions (local administrators group, login to act as part of the operating system/logon as a service and log on locally).
The first problem I encounter is during setup, the ISQL.exe hangs in background (for several days when left), and to continue setup I have to end this process. How can I resolve this?
Once setup is complete MS tech document says you must immediately install SP5a for SQL 6.5, the SP update procedure runs through several scripts and then comes back with an error of ISQL.exe cannot be executed. I cannot find any .out files which show the source of error.
Also another problem when SQL 6.5 is first installed in Enterprise manager the ‘msdb’ database is marked suspect, the msdb.dat has local SYSTEM and NTFS permissions for login account, I can remove the status by running script instsupl.sql in the MSSQL\install folder and then sp_resetstatus msdb. This clears the status but I still cannot install the SQL 6.5 SP5a.
Please can you offer some assistance?
Many thanks,
Gary Gerrard"
