I am trying to run a DTS package, and SQL SERVER 2000 is tellig me that I am out of space in my Database. It tells me to backup my transaction log to free up some space. any Idea on how to do this?

I am not a DBA, but the closest thing we have to one.
Thanks

Do a full database backup... Do you know what recovery mode your database is in??

After the backup, you may need to run DBCC SHRINKDATABASE or DBCC SHRINKFILE, you can find these in BOL...

I did a full backup 2 days ago. Recovery model is full.

Can you give me the syntax for the dbcc and where do I run that from? What is BOL?

BOL is Books Online, your best friend when it comes to T-SQL syntax...

If you do not need point in time recovery then set your recovery model to simple, this will reduce logging.

Will dumping the log not corrupt the DB or make it inacessible?
