| Hi, Is SQL 2000 Enterprise Edition capable enough of handling Terabytes of data ? or only Oracle or DB2 can achieve the scalability . There is lot of debate going on at our workplace as there is one big SQL datawarehouse that is planned to be migrated to DB2 .The current volume of data is 350 GB and is expected to grow to 600 GB plus in future. All I know is that everyone database system has its own suitability and can be used as per the requirements and infrastructure . This is very difficuilt to answer . But in terms of processing power and DW capabilities , is SQL powerful enough to compete with DB2 ? IF there are any good articles and references / reviews to the comparison , it would be of some help to me . Thanks. |

| lol.If you're migrating to db2 why are you worried.600G shouldn't be a problem. More of a concern is how it is implemented - if your workplace is having this discussion it doesn't sound like there's a lot of expertise there which will cause more of a problem than the platform. Here's some sql server systemshttp://www.microsoft.com/sql/evaluation/compare/wintercorp.asp==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |
