| Hi. I have a NT 4 server with SQL 7. I know its not a good idea to change the server name as SQL uses the computer name internally. Does the same apply to changing the servers IP address ? I have checked TechNet and 'SQL books online' but cannot find anything on this topic. Many Thanks Kevin. |

| Changing the IP address shouldn't be an issue. Anytime you change the name or IP address, just make sure the DNS and WINS servers get updated. Otherwise, you'll be in for a fun night.MeanOldDBAderrickleggett@hotmail.comWhen life gives you a lemon, fire the DBA. |
