And there are no (STOPBEFOREMARK) etc , for back ups.

Not really sure what you mean.
If you want just onw weeks worth of data then how would the server know what that means? (think about it)
Whatever you do you have to start with a restore of a full backup.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.
