Hi - been using SQL 7 at work on NT4 for a couple of years and all is well. I was running a desktop version on Win98 at home to do some work as well without any problems. My wife finally let me buy a new PC

I'm trying to install on Win 2000 Professional. All appears to go well - the install procedure says it succeeded but I can't register a server in EM. I keep getting the error
quote:
Specified SQL Server not found and an error on ConnectionOpen(CreateFile())
MS KB said to change the SYSTEM account to fill control, uninstall and reinstall. Doesn't work. I tried both named pipes and TCP-IP on the client side.

Any ideas?
