suppose i have
1. select * from Bonus with(ROWLOCK) where BonusID = 2
2. select * from Bonus where BonusID = 2
now i don't want to run the second select operation while my first select operation with rowlock is running

Row level locking is by default from SQL7. SQL server determines when to escalate ito page or table level locks.

For more info on locking architecture, look in BOL Index under "Locking"

What kind of information are you exactly looking for ?
