| Charlie writes "I'd like to make a correction to my question from yesterday. I incorrectly said that the NOINDEX option with DBCC CHECKDB didn't help prevent blocking. Here's my updated question...We have a SQL7.0 database that stores medical records for a hospital emergency room. The system is used 24x7 and we constantly ran into problems where inserts fail when the nightly integrity checks run. I changed the checks to run with the NOINDEX option which cut down the run time dramatically... (30 minutes down to 2 minutes.) Is this a good way to run checks in this situation or do I really need to run a full check? Can anyone suggest a better method? Thanks" |
