| I have a database with primary file group.The size of the filegroup is 3 GB and increasing.Please advice on Dba activities i need to do asap and things i need to accomplish down the line.Right now iam using maintenance plan for backing up the data.We are fine if the back up goes back to one day.We also have SAN implemented. |

| Backups, integrity checks, and possibly defragmenting the indexes. Those are the important DBA activities. 4GB isn't very big, why are you concerned about the size?Tara |

| My concern is that i only have one filegroup.Should i create more filegroups and have seperate ones for indexes? also in oracle,the table partition by date.is there anything like that? |

| "in oracle,the table partition by date.is there anything like thatI always find this really hard to find in Books-on-LineTry looking in the index for "partitioned views" - which shows the topic "Creating a Partitioned View", and also "Partitions - views and" which shows the topic "Using Partitioned Views"Those two cover pretty much all the bases.Kristen |
