Hello,

I have a problem to register my local server to SQL SERVER 2000.

I tried to reinstall it but it didn't help.
I try to follow the guides:
http://www.15seconds.com/Issue/001025.htm
http://www.edgewebhosting.net/sql2000/
http://www.teamits.com/internet/support/index.php?/internet/support/nt/sql_server_8.html
http://support.rapidsystem.net/ntfaq/client.htm

And I tried to solved it with this solution:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290820/EN-US/
But it didn't help.

I have SQL SERVER 2000 and Windows XP PRO EN SP1.

I tried to enter "127.0.0.1","local","localhost","(local)","." to the server name in Client Network Utility->Alias (TCP/IP).
I attached 2 pictures.

What I did wrong or what's the problem?

Please help me

Thanks,
BuildHome

Your MSSQLSERVER service probably isn't started. Check out the status of the service in the Services applet which can be found in Admin Tools in Control Panel.

Thank you.

Do any services start with MSSQL? If so, then start them. If not, then SQL Server was not successfully installed.

No, I don't have any In the list :(

I don't have a good version of MS-SQL or maybe the setup isn't good?
What version do you recommend me to Install? 2000? 2003?
Something that will be good to my OS.

Thank you :)

Well you have to tell us what OS you are using. Some versions of SQL Server can only be installed on certain operating systems.

Sorry, missed that in your original post.

You can install SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition. It's about 50 bucks from MS.

Hi again,

I installed SQL SERVER 2000 but I can't config username & password to the registered sql server properties window (I attached a screenshot).

I only can use the first option (Use Windows authenitication).

Why Is that? Why can't I user the second option?

Thanks,
