I've been lumbered with the joyous task of implementing log shipping for numerous SQL Server's (2k Enterprise Edition). Anyway, since I'm backing up the logs at 5 minute intervals, do I still need to setup database and log backups for the databases?

Thanks.

The 5 minute interval tlog backups, are you referring to how you set them up inside the log shipping wizard? If so, then no you don't need to configure additional full backups or tlog backups. In fact, if you run a tlog backup outside of log shipping and don't manually apply it to the standby server, you'll break log shipping.

If you aren't referring to setting them up inside the log shipping wizard, then you'll need to delete these as these need to run from the log shipping jobs.

The 5 minute interval I'm refering to is the backup interval in the Log Shipping Wizard. I'm setting the restore on the standby database to 30 minutes.

So, basically, no further database or log backup schedules are required when you use Log Shipping?

Correct, at least for the log shipped databases. Make sure to setup a backup system databases job though.
