| Performance. At 4-6GB, I've left mine on a drive separate from the O/SAlso I would imagine if it was being hit very heavily, then I'd separate them...but then there are hardware converns to fully take advatages of thatBut it couldn't hurt to separate them to different drives...Brett8-) |

| We seperate them as well. If you have the luxury of being able to do it, I reccomend it. Brett gives good reasons to. I'd also add that if you have them on seperate drives then the size of your log file is less likely to become an issue. Your db and log file could grow to a point where they start competing for space before you can truncate the log file. The last thing you want mid day is for the server to start throwing errors that the log file is out of room. That's a great way to get your manager and all your end users to call you simultaneously.Mike"oh, that monkey is going to pay" |

| I do as well. I'm actually thinking of separating TXLogs, Data, and Indexes on to separate drives as well.Michael<Yoda>Use the Search page you must. Find the answer you will.</Yoda> |

You must have a lot of empty drive bays.I didn't know index files could be separated from the mdb. |
