Mike writes "I am currently attempting to install MS SQL Server 2000 Developer's edition on my laptop. My laptop is on a wireless network. My problem is that I keep getting the following error message "Error: A previous installation has been detected where files are pending. Please restart your computer to proceed.". I have done the following steps to try to resolve this issue:

- Stop the installation and restart the computer
- If there were any components put in but the uninstall was
not put in, I just deleted those files from the SQL 2000
directory
- Looked in the TEMP directory to see if there were any
temporary files associated with the installation (There
were none)
- Looked if where were any services associated with SQL
Server (There were none)
- Disabled the wireless lan on the laptop

After each of these endeavors, I restarted the computer and I still get this error message. I do have SQL Server on my desktop and I'm wondering if, since this is a wireless network, the installation on my desktop is effecting this.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do?"

I hope you are suppose to uninstall the previous version of sql server / Unregister the sql server files from the registry before you manually deleting the sql server files from the folder.

It is not yet all related to your wireless lan.

If possible please goto "SERVICES" and check whether any sql server serivces are running on the machine. then stop/disable them.

No need to restart and try for installation again....
