Penny writes "Hi
I am running SQL Server 200 (up to SP3) on Windows XP. Have recently run windows update to be current.

I can't look at data in tables using enterprise manager (query designer?) Enterprise manager, choose database, select 'Tables', right click on a table and select 'return all rows' just gives me a screen of the gridlines but with no column headings and no data. No error message either. It's as if it hasnt run the necessary SQL.

I can see the data in SQL Query Analyzer.

This may or may not be relevant, but I was not aware of the problem until I received a Trojan Agent Em virus. I have cleaned/deleted infected files to no avail.
I have also tried reinstalling SQL.

Thanks in advance
Penny"

Sweet. You shouldn't need to do this, but try installing the latest MDAC and see if that fixes it. I would reinstall the OS if I were you. That's a lot of work though.
