Syed writes "Hi all,

I have been working in SQL Server for well over 4 yrs, mostly doing data warehousing work. I am assigned SQL DBA role recently. I'd like to get some hands on trainings.

Can you recommend some good on site training programs?

Can you suggest me the steps for this transistion?

Thanks.

Syed."

You could do a lot worse than read the posts on here. Lots of questions come up, and many of them are variations on a theme.

I'm sure some of the "real DBAs here will have some other insights into how to build a set of DBA skills

GENERAL ADVICE FOR EVERYONE: Please backup all of your databases including master, msdb and model on a regular basis. I am tired of telling people they are screwed. The job you save may be your own.
