I have found several software packages out there which have great information, reviews, testimonials, etc. However, I want to get some actual feedback from those of you out there who have used more than one SQL Server monitor solution. It is about time for me to put one in place, but some constructive feedback from some real-world situations would be helpful to get me a list of the better providers to start with for demos. I would like to waste as little time as possible during this transition. Please post any good and bad experiences you might have had while using an SQL Monitor Solution.- - - -- Will -- - - -http://www.strohlsitedesign.comhttp://www.servicerank.com/

Sorry, can't offer any testimonials but I can throw another product in the mix.http://www.quest.com/spotlight_on_sql_server/index.aspMy previous company uses this, my impression is that it's pretty high-end (expensive but good). One of their developers was posting here for a short time.Be One with the OptimizerTG

I have seen a demo of Spotlight and liked the appearance, but I have heard (no empirical data) that it adds quite a load to the SQL Server and can impact performance. It's worth researching this more. Another product that looked interesting was Lumigent Entegra which they say uses "low impact agents". I think these behave like SQL Profiler to monitor activity and then log and display it in a perhaps more useful way.---------------------------EmeraldCityDomains.com

Argh... I just came to check the post, and just like my last post this one didn't notify me of the replies even though I am subscribed to it and my e-mail did not even catch it in the spam filters. Hmmm... Thanks for your posts. I am going to go through the documentation and perhaps demo one of them.- - - -- Will -- - - -http://www.strohlsitedesign.comhttp://www.servicerank.com/

Will, yes the subscription service was having some issues recently. Graz, the board master is working on monitoring it and fixing any issues that come up.By the way, if you come to PASS at the end of September, many of these companies will be there doing demos and giving out info.---------------------------EmeraldCityDomains.com

Hi,You dont you try out ManageEngine Applications Monitoring software. It is an integrated Applications, Servers, Databases & systems monitoring tool. You can download the product from http://manageengine.adventnet.com/products/applications_manager/download.htmlApplications Manager provides a web client that allows you to visualize SQL monitoring data from your database tier alongside your application tiers. Monitors performance statistics such as memory usage, buffer manager statistics, connection statistics, cache details, sql statistics, etc., Alerts can be configured for these parameters. Based on the thresholds configured, notifications and alerts are generated if the SQL or any specified database within the server is not accessible. Actions are executed automatically based on configurations. Susan Suganthi,ManageEngine Applications Monitoring Softwarehttp://www.appmanager.com
