| Gavin writes "One of our techs deleted the MSSQL folder in the root of the C drive of a user's pc without running the uninstallation script from 'add/remove programs' menu. Now I am unable to install SQL2k as it thinks SQL7 is still installed, I cannot uninstall SQL7 because the uninstaller has been deleted, and when I attempt to reinstall SQL7 to uninstall it properly I get the 'setup cannot find your microsoft sql server 7.0 installation . . .' error. I am leery of attempting to remove such a pervasive program from the registry manually, is there any way i can get SQL7 cleared from the machine?" |

I wouldn't call it "pervasive" (there's a pun there if you try) I've done manual removals in under 5 minutes. Try this:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290991&sd=tech |
