This is a tricky question. According to SQL Server 7 Books Online (BOL), "SQL Server allows a maximum of 32,767 user connections.". However, the real number of connections that SQL Server can "handle" is dependent upon the code you write. I can write a syntactically correct SQL statement that will freak out SQL Server with just one connection. On the other hand, I can have thousands of people connecting and executing well-written SQL without too much trouble.The second tricky part of the answer is that it depends on how you are connecting to SQL Server. If you are using ADO, which is pretty common, then you might be able to take advantage of connection pooling, which basically means that many users can be processed using a few actual connections because the connections are getting re-used.-------------------It's a SQL thing... |
