How are you trying to view the error logs?

SQL Express was released last November, you should really download the release version rather than using the CTP. Or are you talking about the Management Studio Express CTP?

Hi Mike,

It's the Management Studio Express CTP

I tried all (I think...) actions..

i tried on single click
i tried on double click
i tried refresh
and even right click

and so i tried to expand
but the thing won't budge
so i gave up
and created a post

Hey Jen,

Management Studio Express doesn't have a log viewer, so you can't actually open the logs directly from the UI. I wouldn't expect it to give an error, I'd expect it to do nothing, which is what it does for me. I have a newer version of the tool so it's possible we've corrected the error since the CTP was released.

So how do you get the log? If you just want to take a look at it to find an error for troubleshooting, just go to the error log directory and open them in Notepad.

i'll try the new CTP Mike

I'm actually evaluating this product for some poor guy who I am not sure if he is that resourceful nor patient to search for the logs

thanks a bunch... you'll be hearing a lot from me eh?

Sounds good Jen, you'll have to wait a bit for the new CTP as it's not public yet. I expect you should see something this month, keep your eye on the SQL Developer Center on MSDN for an announcement. http://msdn.microsoft.com/sql
