I have 2 machines on the same network
they are both on the same domain
I can use the enterprise manager to see one the other sql machine
and I can even add it but I can't log in with the sa password.
However I can loggin with sa password locally.

Any thoughts?????

Check the SQL server properties in Enterprise manager. Go to security tab.Authentication should be SQL Server and Windows. You might have just set it to Windows.
If it is just Windows it won't allow sa or any other sql server login except the Windows Authentication(credentails of logged on user)

I would also stop using the SA account and setup a personal login with the sysadmin server role. AFAIK there is nothing that SA can do that any other sysadmin cannot.
