I a quite green with Analysis services, so... How would I go about matching the aggregations from my cube with an outside list. For example, I have list of zipcodes. I am asked how many people are in these zipcodes? I would probably need to present this count as Age x Gender. Zipcode is in my cube and I can get Age x Gender x Zipcode with Excel (or in the data browser). Is there a good way to limit those results by the zipcodes? The next level of sophistication is then, what if City(or some other info) is provided with the outside list. What is a good way to the get City x Gender x Age? Does this make any sense? I need a big frothy to Edited by - toddv on 12/11/2001 16:00:14 |

I'm not sure what you mean by limit the results by zipcode. Excel can limit a dimension shown as a row or column to a set of values and as a page to a single value (at any level of the dimension). Is there a strict one-to-many relationship between cities and zip codes? If so, just create a level in the zip dimension above the zip code for city.If not, create city as a new dimension, either in its own right, or make a member property of the zip level and from that create a virtual dimension. (It's a cube size vs browse speed trade-off).And if I'm completely wrong, it's because I haven't done much of this either |

Arnold,Thanks for your comments. The zipcode lists I talk about are in the hands of the users at run time, so I think options within the cube are limited. Thanks |
