My SQL Server 7 setup failed. I let the setup run through until it completed. I was promtped to restart the server. When the server came back up I ran the upgrade wizard. It complained about a corrupt installation.

When I switch to sql65 it says switch successful but the menu still shows sql7. I had to 'hack' the registry to get sql65 to start by pointing the MSSQLSERVER service to the mssql65 directory. Now I am running sql65 but the server has sql7 menu. I cannot uninstall it because it fails.

Is there a way to remove it from the registry so I can start again? Or is that a bad idea?

I would appreciate your thoughts on this one. I've installed and upgraded a few SQL7 Servers in the past and have never came across a problem before.

Regards

jason"

Yes,

You can remove SQL Manually. See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q276044
