| writes "Hi,Running SQL Server 2000 EE on Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP2 on an 8 CPU Dell with 8 GB RAM. BOOT.INI contains /3GB /PAE switches. Processors were running fine with SQL using 3 GB until I enabled AWE in T-SQL. With AWE enabled and max server memory set to 6144 SQL uses the 6 GB and disk I/O is better as expected, but processors now under much heavier load - like almost double. Only other thing running on the machine is MSSearch but I've effectively reserved 2 GB for this and the O/S by setting max server memory to 6144.Anyone any thoughts on this? I need the extra memory but I really want my processors to behave as well!!!Any thoughts very gratefully received.Julian BallEspotting Mediajulian.ball@espotting.net" |

| Which SP do you have on SQL2000? I know there were some bugs with the base version and AWE support. JamesH. |
