We installed a new application on SQL2000. Most of our stuff is still on 7.0. My Enterprise Manager is 7.0. It can't connect to a 2000 instance till I upgrade. When I put the 2000 cd in my Windows 95 workstation, installing client and tools is NOT an option. It is greyed out.How is Enterprise Manager upgraded to 2000? Do I have to uninstallthe 7.0 version? I'd rather keep all my connectivity and server groups.

A quick scan of Microsoft's web site shows that SQL 2000 works only on NT 4.0, Windows 2000 or higher, Win 98 or ME. You'll have to upgrade the OS in order to use the SQL 2000 software on that machine.

Time to upgrade the desktop. The system requirements page for SQL Server 2000 on the microsoft web site says that Windows 95 is supported for client connectivity only and that it does not support the graphical tool set. Here's the link. http://www.microsoft.com/SQL/evaluation/sysreqs/2000/default.asp. It's in the fine print at the bottom.Jeff BanschbachConsultant, MCDBA.... out posted again.... curse my slow fingers.Edited by - efelito on 02/13/2002 11:42:12
