Im new to reporting services and Ive been reading a few articles to get started. I already have a few questions:- what tool does sql 2005 provide to build the report- if you start building a report in the provided tool, can you later switch to visual studio 2005 ? |

SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services (SSRS) provides the Report Designer in Business Intelligence Studio (BIDS) to build your reports and yes you can later use Visual Studio because BIDS is just a stripped down Visual Studio anyway.SSRS 2005 does also have an end user reporting tool called Report Builder that is a web based tool. It is based on report models (which you must create before users can use it), so you can use the Designer to edit reports created by the Builder, but in most cases you cannot use the Builder to edit reports created in the Designer.See http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159090.aspx |
