On our SQL Server 2000 live We have this peculiar problem of too many processes being in Sleeping mode and when we check with people who where using the Connections they tell they had disconnected long time back.and the network library used to connect is LPC i am not able to understand why the Processes are going into Sleeping mode.

Are you asking...
(1) Why are the SPIDs still around after disconnection?
or
(2) Why do processes go into sleeping mode?

And what is LPC?
What is your problem? Are you running out of available connections?

Run sp_who2. Maybe that will give you some more information about where these connections are coming from.

EDIT: another thought, EM does a pretty bad job refreshing itself. Run sp_who or sp_who2 from QA and see if the results are the same.
