1. Da_Retina - you can deleted from threads....don't know how myself by the evidence seems to suggest it can be done....see

http://www.sqlteam.com/Forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14109

therefore avoiding the word "Sorry"

2. Harimagesh - your question is too ambiguous.

but if you want one of the following...

a) absolute minimum specificication of a database server - look up the pre-requisites for installing SQL Server.
b) minimum 'acceptable performance' specification of a database server - define what you consider acceptable performance in terms of response time, concurrent transactions, database size, etc and then look for a specification (and benchmark evidence) from a supplier which can prove it can match the desired workload.
c) specification of your current server - talk to your DBA or DB Host.
d) specification of IDEAL server - win the Lottery, and then talk to Dell, Compaq, IBM, etc....I'm sure they will be happy to oblige you with a quote.
e) typical configurations of a database server - maybe others here can quote their own machine specs, in relation to workload.

all in all....refine your objectives (by clarifying your question) and maybe we can be of more help.

Don't worry, the only time posts get deleted is when I mistake the reply w/quote button for the trash can icon...I need new glasses. See? I can't even TYPE the damn thing in the proper order!

Anyway, I don't reply with quote anymore
