Hi All,

I’m having an intermittent problem with SQL server 2005 and vb.net program (Using ADO.net)

On our test server it all works fine (no errors), but on a Live PC/system they can log in fine, and generally use the software but during a feature that is doing a lot of database work after around the same number of records we get the error below. Give or take a few hundred records.

This same function has worked about 8 times now with no errors so it appears to be an intermittent problem. But it fails more times then it works.

Error:
[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Thanks in advance for any help/Advice

put a try catch around the code and see what the stack trace gives you.

also are you trying to open an already opened connection?

use using when dealing with connections. Always close them.
maybe you're exceeding the connection pool limit.

can you show us the code?
