I have several target servers defined, i have a job that needs to run in a serial fashion (ie.. 1 target at at time) if every target kicks off the job at the same time it's going to bog down the disk drives... can this be serialized? or do i need to write a special routine...

Why not just run them one after the other? Either different steps in a single job or as a loop for each server.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.

there on different servers, if was going to do it that way then there would be need to enlist any targets. I don't want to deploy this job across the 30+ servers that we have.
