Anyone else seen this specific error message before:

quote:

SQL Server Assertion: File: <lckmgr.cpp>, line=10850 Failed Assertion = 'GetLocalLockPartition () == xactLockInfo->GetLocalLockPartition ()'. This error may be timing-related. If the error persists after rerunning the statement, use DBCC CHECKDB to check the database for structural integrity, or restart the server to ensure in-memory data structures are not corrupted.

google gets several hits for a different line number, and different type of lock.

Environment: SQL 2005 Sp2a (3402), 64bit, clustered.

We've had 3 of these today, in a 1h20 minnute period. Apparently, this first raised it's head last friday (3 on friday, 2 on Saturday).
All the same line number. DBCC CheckDB to be run asap (getting approval as we type).

Update: Still an issue.

We failed over, ran DBCC Checkdb no_infomsgs - reported no problems.
restarted SQL on passive node (previously active node that had erported the assertion failures)
Then we had assertion failure on new active node.
ran DBCC CHECKDB , and it also report 0 errors, 0 consistency errors

We probably will raise support call if we can find anything on this...

Opened a call with them. Fortunately, we don't have 'site/system down' ... but that also means that we are likely to have to wait a while for some resources. Today it has been LOTS worse - we've failed over again, had probably 30+ instances across both nodes...

wondering whether we should dbcc checkdb master, etc. Those are going to be common on both servers

"wondering whether we should dbcc checkdb master"

Can't do any harm can it? And shouldn't take long either ...

update:

DBCC CheckDB on all other DBs on the server (1 user, and sytem dbs), report 0 errors.
We've tried trapping the spids, as they assert, to see if we can find comment code, but with lag and re-use, this is problematic. Strange thing is the assertions do not appear to cause execution failures, so we are uncertain what impact this is having.

We are being asked to apply hotfix Build 09.00.3159. This is not a cumulative hotfix - does that mean we should first got to 3156 (cumulative hot that this patch is based on)? As far as I understand it, a hotfix on addresses the specific issue, unless it explicitly states that it is a cumulative?

Comments?

That's correct, but double check with Microsoft.

You had one of those only a year or so back ... was that you then too? The news said it was an oil refinery that blew up, had they slapped a D-notice on your T-SQL?

hmm - that was just before I went up to the client site, so I am not taking responsibility for that one :P
