Hi,I have 0 experience with SQLMail, and I don't want to go too deep into it as I already am trying to learn more than I can with the other parts :) I'm wondering, is there an easy way to have SQL Email me when anything strange happens with the SQL server? It would be awesome to get alerts to my phone. Thanks very muchmike123

You will definitely need to define strange. With SQL Server 2005, we now use Database Mail instead of SQL Mail.Tara Kizerhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/

Before you can set up an alert, you would need to enable SQL Mail in SQL Server 2005.By default, it is disabled as SQL Server 2005 now use Database mail due to security reasons. If you wish to enable SQL Mail, you would need to go to SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configurationthen choose, Surface Area Configuration for Features. Under "Database Engine", you will seeSQL Mail, make sure that is checked. Then, you would need to set up the "Profile". Login to your Database Engine and underManagement> Legacy > you will see SQL Mail. Right click and then choose Properties. You will see "Profile Name". This is the profile name that your Outlook client isusing. Click on "Test" upon entry and if all goes well you should be good. Then you can set alerts. You can also now use xp_sendmail instead of sp_send_dbmail.Good LuckLarryLarry :-)
