Well writes "after i installed SQL 7.0, i got a message saying it couldn't register ActiveX, and below is the part in the sqlstp.log file i suspect saying what happened:
12:03:30 Begin Action SelfRegister
12:03:37 Error(s) registering the following files: C:\WINNT\System32\comct232.ocx;C:\WINNT\System32\comctl32.ocx;C:\WINNT\System32\comdlg32.ocx
