| Thanks. I installed 2.7. Unfortunately it seems to make no difference.My local server is running. It appears in the list of servers on my local "SQL Server Service Manager" and in the Enterprise Manager Console Root. Great!It has disappeared from two places that I have found - I can't connect to it. I don't get errors.After the DTS Import/Export Wizard open, and the list of servers is clicked, the local server disappears. I can export from it (if I don't click the server list) with no problem. Also, I can't connect to it using the SQL Server DSN Configuration under "Which SQL Server do you want to connect to?" - in the ODBC Administrator. Because I can export from it, but can't import to it, or to anything else for that matter, I'm thinking this is related to security in some way. I checked my user permissions and it looks like my Windows logon has the correct level of permission. Could I be the only one with this problem? (who installed recent XP updates and is running SQL 2000?) Is my karma catching up with me? (I knew that Access to SQL conversion was too easy - is this Microsoft payback?)Any suggestions on where to go next appreciated. |

| Thanks Chad. I ran the "Checker".Assuming that it is not normal to have 26 dlls missing, I have "most" of 2.7 installed apparently. (The language is "your configuration most closely resembles 2.7", or something to that effect)Microsoft's instructions for removing and reinstalling MDAC sound akin to crossing one's fingers for luck, and jumping blind off a bridge. Has any normal human ever completed this without having to reformat their hard drive? Do the instructions provided by Microsoft actually tell you what to do, as in: if you follow them, it works?Any sage words of wisdom greatly appreaciated. |

DTS Import/Export Wizard in XP env. - MS security update made changes?
