Hi,

I need to access excel workbook through SQL server from a remote machine.

I have tried using distributed queries with the following syntax.
select * From OPENROWSET ('Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0',
'Excel 8.0;DATABASE=C:\Documents and Settings\136890\Desktop\Compliance Dev\Prototype_Template.xls',
'Select * from [Corporates$]') Where IsNull(value1, '') <>

where C:\Documents and Settings\136890\Desktop\Compliance Dev\Prototype_Template.xls' is the datasource and the local machine where the SQL server 2000 is running.

Now I need to access data from a remote machine and provide the name of the machine as datasource.

Pls adv.
Thanks

Use unc name for file like \\host\share\file, and ensure sql service startup account has permission on it.
