Anyone using the freeware version of Idera SQLsafe?
I would ike to know pros and cons for moving this product to production systems.

We are running very low on disk space and have no funds to get more space at this time.

How would that product help with your space issue?

It compresses the backup file to about 85-95% of the original on test I have done.

So the space you are trying to free is only for backups, not database files?

You may want to also post your questions on the Idera forum at SQL Server Central:

I know they aren't enabling multithreaded backups but the compression is there, and for free its hard to beat.

SQLsafe is not free as I understand, you can use it free for 14 days only.

I looked at their web site today, and they do have a freeware version. Obviously, it does not have all the features of the $995 per server version.
