| Hi All!I am trying to install SQL Server CE. At one point during the installation it asks me for a name of a machine running SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition (I guess it needs to verify it for licensing purposes). Fortunately I do have a machine with Developer Edition installed... However, no matter how I try to point to that server (I tried using the server name by itself, \\name, and the IP address) the installation wizard won't take it (no error is displayed, but the message box, asking for machine name does not go away, so I can't proceed). Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated!Note: I can ping the Development Edition machine with no problems.---------------Strong SQL Developer wanted in the Boston area. | Ilya, I assume you've already seen this... but just in case: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/sqlce/installing_2s6o.asp?frame=true which says that ActiveSync 3.1 or later and eMbedded Visual Tools 3.0 need to already be installed on the development machine. |

Thanks Mark. I did read this article, and installed the prerequisites it mentions. Unfortunately the article didn't mention that I'm supposed to reboot the machine after I install the damn things!!! After two hours of banging my head against my keyboard, I finally restarted the machine, and SQL CE installed just fine. ---------------Strong SQL Developer wanted in the Boston area.
