hi,
I change the PC name. so now @@servername returns the oldname.
I try sp_dropserver and I got an error:

Msg 15015, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_dropserver, Line 42
The server '[IBM-E81EB247FF3]' does not exist. Use sp_helpserver to show available servers.

I run sp_helpserver and I get the oldname:

IBM-E81EB247FF3 IBM-E81EB247FF3 rpc,rpc out,use remote collation 0 NULL 0 0

any idea ?
many thanks
Noam

I believe this will do it for you...

sp_dropserver 'SQL Server server name'

sp_addserver 'actual computer name', 'local'

There may be more to it but I can't think of it right now.

I will say that you probably messed up your sql jobs (I only know how to fix it in SQL2000 never looked at it in SQL2005). You probably can't modify your jobs or anything. The way to fix it is to change the name back, script all the jobs, drop all the jobs, change the name to the new name and then run the script to create the jobs. Of course make a backup first. You could do the easy thing and just update the originating_server in sysjobs to the new server name but Microsoft doesn't recommend doing it that way...but it works.
