I know that this isn't a Crystal forum but I have a problem a problem that someone may have experienced with Reporting Services and found an answer to.

I have a report that looks at sales figures for the year and breaks them down by Month. In the body of the report this is fine and it displays all figures in the correct order as January through to December.

I have added a Bar Chart and this will only display the Months in alphabetical order as opposed to calendar Month order. Both the report body and the chart use the same query but the chart doesn't seem to be able to order the Months correctly.

Anyone know why and how I can remedy this please?

Haven't used crystal reports for a while but look for a sorted property.
It's ignoring the query return values and sorting the axis itself. Other option maybe is to display yyyymm or the month number - or month number followed by name (01 January).

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.

I've searched and searched but cannot find another way in Crystal to sort the resultset. I wrote a DATEPART function into the SP but still it didn't have an effect. I will go with your last suggestion Nigel and concat the results of Datepart with the month name. I'll let you know.

Thanks.

As I can remember we use to create a column specifically for charting. The column is a smallint and preprocess to 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. This was preprocessed in a table or stored procedure and use this column was used on the X axis. The date column was used to display on the chart.
Not sure if this is the most efficient but it worked.
