Hi ,

I want to install a new SQL 2005 server. i looked on MSDN, it says to create one or more domain user accounts. That means to create a windows domain. Is it neccessary? All I want is a stand-alone SQL server. right now we are working with SQL 2000 and we want to build a new server with SQL 2005.

Please send me a short feedback.

You can use a local domain account.
No, it is not necessary. To play with SQL Server 2005 you can use localserver as startup account.

I think there are some limitations of using local system account, but I can't remember what they are.

EMail maybe? Issues with jobs run by SQL Server Agent?

Can't access remote resource, also affect replication, log shipping, db mirroring.
