I have moved 2 databases from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 x64 and am now getting periodic "General Network Errors" in the client applications. The server event log and SQL error log are no showing anything. The application works for the most part but a couple of times per day throws up the error.Have any timeout/latency settings changed between 2000 & 2005? What else might have changed given that the client app and network are the same?ThanksScott

TCP/IP. Also are there connection limits or something like that? The issue seems to be most prevelant when multiple windows are open. This is the error the application logs:[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Communication link failureThis is usually indicative of a network error but the network is fine. The only change was from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 x64.

Did you check nic settings on the server? Tried with named pipes protocol? Better to work with your network guys for this issue.
