Hi,

I have just installed SQL 2005 client tools and management studio to register SQL 2000 databases. Although it registers the servers successfully , I can't see any activity monitor on the SQL 2000 registered server . Is it something more that I have to install to see what's happening ?

Thanks in advance.

Unless SQL 2005 DBMS is also installed on the server itself, the EM won't have all of the functionality for a SQL 2000 server. For full functionality of the client EM you need the box to have SQL 2005 installed

Don't see why manage sql2k in ssms, you can use any sql2k5 feature on sql2k anyway.

Not so sure with you there...I have SQL 2000 box, but my desktop has both 2000 EM and 2005 SMS. Not all 2005 SMS features are function because the box doesn't have 2005 DBMS installed.
