Hi

I had Sql Server 2005 installed on a machine of mine and was able to connect to the local, however I had to unistall it. Recently I put it back on the machine and found that I was no longer able to connect to the local server.

Does anyone know why this has happened and how it can be resolved?
Thanks

Providing the error is always helpful.

I get a message stating that sql server does not allow remote connections with an error 26.

Hope that helps.

Have you verified that the SQL Server service is running? Are you sure that you installed the database server and not just client tools? Have you tried connecting with ServerName,PortNumber or ServerName\InstanceName,PortNumber?
