I did the full backup of .7 TB database about 2 weeks ago and did full restore with norecovery mode and then i did differential backup of about 100 gb and tried to restore but it is showing following error :System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: This differential backup cannot be restored because the database has not been restored to the correct earlier state. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)While restoring the files are different than original database filesPlease help

sounds like the full backup you restored was not the last full backup before the differential backup you are trying to restore. not sure what your last sentance means...

Either u have restored the latest full backup and not a differential taken after that or u may have restored an old full backup.RKNAIR
