Andrew Wing writes "I am experiencing an intermittent problem. I am registering a SQL 2000 server with an IP address across the Net in Enterprise Manager; however, I am only successfully connecting about 25% of the time.

I am receiving the following msg when I cannot connect:
A connection cannot be established to XX.XX.XX.XX – SQL Server does not exist or access denied. ConnectionOpen(Connect())..

If I reboot, it appears to temporarily fix the problem, but it eventually reappears. I am using TCP/IP as the sole NetLib and connecting using SQL Authentication. I have bumped the login time-out value up to 30 seconds.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

MITA,
Andrew"

Do you have any service packs installed? You could be seeing this little gem of a problem.
