Hi,

How does one go about setting up a trusted connection to sqlserver 2005 so I don't have to put the username/password in the web.config file?

Are there any other adv/disadv. with doing this?

You are doing things incorrectly if you think that you provide username/pwd in your config file with a trusted/windows authentication. Check out http://www.connectionstrings.com/?carrier=sqlserver for how to correctly setup your connection string.

Anyhow, can someone please tell me how to SETUP a trusted connection? Is it done via EM or something?

I've shown you how to do it by providing a link!!! What part isn't clear in the link?

This has nothing to do with EM or QA. It is a connection string problem.

Ok sorry I am confused.

If I simply put "Driver={SQL Server};Server=myServerAddress;Database=myDataBase;Trusted_Connection=Yes;" for my connection string, that will automatically give me access to the server?
Where is the authentication being preformend?

It uses the current security context. So if this is via service, it will use the service credentials. If this is a thick client application, it will use the person logged into Windows. ...
